We all know who led to this Mobile revolution, it has to start somewhere. It was Motorola who started making cordless phones back then. In the middle of its period, it started losing its glory of the past and Google acquired it later, and joined the smartphone race. The smartphone is innovation was believed to be dead by this time. LG just broke the belief by starting the semi-modular smartphones to the market. Continuing it now Moto, officially acquired by Lenovo has taken a dive in the semi-modular smartphones. The main concept of modularity is to add something new to the device without changing the whole of the device. You could just swap in your new module to upgrade that specific part. But semi-modularity doesn’t go by that way, instead, it just adds something to your phone not by replacing just adding it over to the smartphone, this is what all modularity of smartphones today.
Lenovo’s keynote on June 10th at San Francisco announced few exciting things like Bendable Displays, Lenovo Phab 2 Pro and finally the Moto Z and Moto Z force. As per the rumors and the Moto Z and Moto,Z force launched with Moto Mods, which is what they call their additional modules. And as every other Moto phones, this supports Moto maker too.
The phone offers more to talk about, other than its specifications. The Moto Mods are the most exciting part of the phone. It has a 16-pin port on the back of the phone and offers additional features like extra battery juice, more powerful speakers, InstaShare Projector with a built-in battery and lots more are yet to come. Moto has partnered with many companies to produce more modules to the phone. Although still Moto Z or Moto Z force aren’t pure modular smartphones, they are just semi-modular like LGG5. Yet, not to forget that Motorola was the first one to start working on a true and pure modular smartphone, Project ARA which was started under Motorola which was owned by Google back then. Even after Google sold the Motorola to Lenovo, Google took the Project ARA initiative under itself. Now let’s talk more about Moto Z and Moto Z force.
Specs of the Moto Z Twins!:
The Moto Z offers most and more than what other flagships do, the Moto Z twins comes with a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 with 2.2ghz and coupled with which is, of course, the blazing fast processor from Qualcomm till now. On the display side, it has a 5.5-inch screen with Quad HD display which is no surprise most of the last quarter of 2015 and early of 2016 phones came with. Talking about the memory it comes with a 4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB version internal memory there are expandable storage options up to 2TB, well it is a lot to ask for in a vanilla android phone. Considering the camera the Moto Z packs a 13MP rear camera with an aperture of f/1.8, Laser autofocus, and Optical Image Stabilization. On the other hand, Moto Z force comes with 21MP f/1.8 lens optics, is indeed large enough to perform good in low light. Both the phones have a 5MP front-facing selfie shooter with an aperture of f/2.2. And every flagship is incomplete with this, yes it’s the fingerprint sensor it is placed on the front and also acts as a home button. The 2600mAH battery powers the Moto Z and 3500mAH powers the Moto Z force.
The most highlighting this of these devices are, they are incredibly lighter and thinner with 5.2mm of thickness and 136 grams of lighter and the absence of 3.5mm headphone jack. Quite surprisingly it also provides a Type C to 3.5mm headphone adapter, It’s a big hassle in my opinion who wants to carry it on all the time for playing your songs with an AUX cable. I think removing of 3.5mm jack from the smartphones should be stopped.
Moto Z Force- Shatterproof Display back again!
The first time the Moto did this on their phone is in Moto X Force, they made shatterproof smartphones. Moto is continuing this trend this time too, by introducing a Force version which is basically a shatterproof display version of the regular flagships of Moto either X or Z. That doesn’t stop there, Lenovo has done quite a good job in adding some extra goodies in Moto Z force by adding an extra large battery and a higher resolution camera.
Availability and Pricing:
Moto Z and Moto Z force will be ready for the purchase in the global markets later of September 2016 with Moto Mods. Although the US has a different story they will be made market ready to Verizon users in the US first.
Do you think Moto Z twins will make a perfect rival of LGG5? The Moto Z twins are implemented lot better than LGG5, the 3RD party manufacturers of the modules are what makes me interested in them. LG did a major mistake by sticking on to their own modules, that was a sick move by LG. It’s all based on my opinion of the device. Will you get the new Moto Z if you get a chance to buy it? Do let me know your point of view in these devices.
